Ida and Tom, the Summer mice, are based on the charming art of illustrator Racey Helps. Measuring 3 inches tall and jointed at their neck and shoulders, both of these charming mice will be made entirely of fine mohair plush with realistic shading. Resin hands and feet, glass eyes, inset whiskers and leather tails give them a realistic appearance.
Ida is wearing a simple summer frock made of fine cotton batiste and seated in her wooden swing which hangs from the stem of a beautiful Shasta daisy! This delightful tableau setting includes daisies mixed with bright yellow buttercup flowers and leaves. Each flower is handmade entirely of felt with artistically shaded details and mounted on a felt-covered wooden base.
Tom, is a dark brown mouse wearing a jacket made of green checkered cotton fabric with a muslin collar and a silk bow. He is wearing a molded felt "button beanie" decorated with tiny multi-colored buttons. These caps became popular in the 30's and 40's when kids would re-style their Dads' old fedoras by flipping them inside out, turning up the brim, and trimming the excess into pointy scallops. The beanies were then decorated with colorful bottle caps, trinkets, or buttons. Tom comes ready for summertime play with his own custom-made all-wood hoop and stick game! A built-in metal stand provides easy display.
Ida will be produced in an edition of 250 pieces and Tom will be limited to only 150 pieces. The first 100 pieces in both editions will be sold as matched number sets. Each mouse will come enclosed in a deluxe R. John Wright presentation box with a signed, numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration.
